Girling became a leading supplier of suspension components for the off-road sector during the 1970s. The company developed the famous Girling Gas Shocks, which utilized an integrated nitrogen charge for damping stability. Due to their reliability and ease of maintenance, these shocks were standard equipment for many British and European off-road brands and were widely used as upgrades in motocross and trials (e.g., for Bultaco, Montesa, and Ossa).
