From 1966 onwards, he built his own engine, the Casal engine, a modified copy of the Zündapp engine, which was to be built in many variants. In the 1970s, Casal exported its products to the UK, the US, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and other countries. Car production was also planned but never realized.

Casal had always been involved in 50cc racing with the Dutch company HuVo, but in 1980-81 they set several world records with Dutch riders. In 1980, Jan Nijhuys set the 50cc 1/4-mile standing start record in 15.26 seconds with a Casal Sparta Plompen. Then, in 1981, Jan Huberts drove the HuVo Casal 50cc streamliner to an astonishing 224 km/h (139 mph).

Closed: 2000

Existence: The original company Metalurgia Casal no longer exists in its form as a vehicle manufacturer.
Closure/insolvency: The company ran into serious financial difficulties in the 1990s, partly due to competition from Asia and stricter emissions standards. Production was discontinued in 1996. In 2000, the company was officially declared insolvent and dissolved.
Takeover: Production was not taken over by another vehicle manufacturer. The trademark rights were later sold and are now primarily used for merchandising or small-series components (e.g., in the field of classic mopeds), but industrial production no longer takes place.
2T off-road production: The production of 2-stroke off-road bikes (such as the famous Casal K181 or K276) ended with the decline of the company in the mid-1990s. No new vehicles have been built since 1996.
