Gilbert de Roover is a Gori pilot, but his results cannot be found in either national or international lists. The picture shows him on a prototype with mono suspension.

Gilbert de Roover finished in a strong 7th place in the final standings. Last year, he scored points several times with the 500cc Beta. This year, however, the Italians focused entirely on the small class and sent de Roover into the race alongside Paolo Piron. At the Belgian home GP in Retinne, he achieved his first podium finish for Beta behind Rahier and Massant.

Zündapp, which had dominated the competition so far, had two very strong riders in Andre Malherbe and Gilbert de Rover. But they had underestimated the competition from the Japanese. Until then, as a large European mass manufacturer, they had been dealing with rather small European competitors. The focus was also clearly on off-road racing.
